L. HOUSE

Status: Work in progress   |   Under construction

Location: Bacau, Romania

Area: 60 sm , ground floor

L. House gets its name from the L-shaped living-entrance area. The family of four wanted a cosy, relaxed living room and kitchen while maintaining an elegant vibe.

The space presented challenges: the unusual L-shape, a fireplace far from the TV, open stairs, a hallway, poor natural light, and the living room as the only passage to the kitchen.

We reorganized the layout for better flow, moving the kitchen door to connect the entrance, hallway, and stairs without disturbing the TV area. The fireplace area was complemented with two rotating armchairs, offering views of the TV and seating zone.

To add volume and character to the light neutral palette, we created a layered bookcase wall with fluted natural wood panels, LED lights, mirrors, sconces, and floating shelves on thin black metal supports.

In the kitchen, the inclined wooden ceiling and abundant natural light were both assets and challenges. Low and high ceiling points disrupted proportions, and windows and doors crowded the walls. We removed unnecessary doors and a window, keeping only the terrace double door, and shaped an L-shaped kitchen around a central round table to maximize light and unify the space.
